Xueyu Zhao is a London-based painter working primarily in oil, with additional work in pastel. After studying electrical engineering, she turned her attention to fine art three years ago and has since trained at London Fine Arts Studios, where she works in the traditional manner — drawing from life and developing the disciplines of portrait, figure, and still life.

Her practice is drawn to romance and beauty: the soft weight of flowers, the quiet light on fresh fruit, the human figure held in stillness. She paints what she finds beautiful, and trusts that pursuit to carry the work.

In 2026, Xueyu was awarded the De László Scholarship by London Fine Arts Studios in recognition of her work. She is open for commissions.
